Hollis is a gateway to Prince of Wales Island as the homeport for the Inter-Island Ferry Authority terminal. The town is located on the east side of the island, 29 miles from Craig by road and 36 miles west of Ketchikan via a three-hour ferry route. The community has a public school, a fire department with EMS services, a library, a public boat dock, and a float plane dock.
West of town you will find the Harris River Day Use Area and Campground managed by the Tongass National Forest. This recreation site has restrooms, picnic areas, and a foot trail. Lodging and other recreational services are available in Hollis but can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead.
