Ketchikan Town Center
The town of Ketchikan is a large town by Alaska standards, with over 8,000 people, the town has numerous resources and amenities to support visitors and supporting tourism is a significant aspect of the local economy. Ketchikan is easy to explore on foot and has transit options available for visitors including a bus system. Two good areas to explore while in town include the waterfront and Ketchikan Creek. These two sites provide a good mix of habitats and are easily explored by foot on existing trails and walking paths. The waterfront will yield a good diversity of waterfowl, seabirds and shorebirds. Common waterfront sightings include: Marbled Murrelet, Common Murre, Pelagic Cormorant, Common and Barrow’s Goldeneye, as well as the Pacific and Common Loon among many other species.
Directions:
Fly, ferry or cruise to Ketchikan Alaska and then travel to down-town on public transportation or by vehicle.
