Southeast Alaska Birding Trail Sitka

Blue Lake Road

Site hosts a nice mix of songbirds!

Blue Lake road travels 2 miles parallel to sawmill creek all the way to Blue Lake. The Forest Service Sawmill Creek Campground and Beaver Lake Trail are also located off of Blue Lake Road just before you reach Blue Lake. This adjacent habitat includes a mix of forest types (alder and coniferous stands) and also extensive avalanche track brush fields that make for a nice mix of passerine species. This site is best for birding during spring–fall.
