Blue Lake Road travels 2 miles parallel to Sawmill Creek to Blue Lake. The Forest Service Sawmill Creek Campground and Beaver Lake Trail are also located off Blue Lake Road just before you reach Blue Lake. This adjacent habitat includes a mix of forest types (alder and coniferous stands) and also extensive avalanche track brush fields that make for a nice mix of passerine species. This site is best for birding during spring and fall.
