Harbor Mountain Road and Trail
Harbor Mountain Road takes you from sea level to the subalpine zone over a 5.5-mile route. The trail continues into the alpine areas and drops back in elevation to Sitka over a 6.2-mile hiking route. There are numerous roadside pull-offs located along the road including a picnic site with an outhouse located near mile 5, about half a mile before the trailhead. The route crosses a variety of habitats including young and mature spruce forests, open meadows, and subalpine and alpine habitats.
