Southeast Alaska Birding Trail Sitka

Whale Park

Site also allows for whale watching.

Whale Park is a developed recreation site managed by the City of Sitka. The site has several ADA accessible facilities. A short boardwalk trail takes you through the park to the viewing platform. As the park’s name implies, this site is also a great spot to look for humpback whales between September and January. Approximately 50 species of birds have been observed from Whale Park including a diversity of waterfowl, seabirds, and passerines using the adjacent spruce forest.

Directions:

From Sitka, travel 3.4 miles east on Sawmill Creek Road to the parking area at Whale Park.
