The Totem Bight State Historical Park provides an opportunity to learn about Native Alaskan cultural sites including totem poles as well as a traditional clan house that is representative of historic Alaska Native villages in Southeast Alaska. There is also a trail access to the adjacent beach and tidelands providing views of the Tongass Narrows. Scan the narrows for water birds; there is often a flock of Western Grebes (75-200 birds) in Tongass Narrows that's visible between October and April.

Directions:

From Ketchikan ferry terminal, head north on the North Tongass Hwy approximately 7 miles to Totem Bight Road.
