Rainbow Falls

Watch for American Dipper, Rufous Hummingbird, and Pacific Wren.

Rainbow Falls is a steep hike that is accessed from with a 0.6 mile-long boardwalk trail that winds through the hemlock-spruce forest to a viewing overlook at the falls. The Institute Creek Trail continues up the mountain to access alpine areas and joins the North Wrangell Trail. The Forest Service maintains 3 shelters along the trail route for campers and emergency shelter needs. Near the falls watch for American Dipper, Rufous Hummingbird, and Pacific Wren.

Directions:

From Wrangell head approximately 4.5 miles south on the Zimovia Highway to the Rainbow Falls trailhead and parking area.

Trail Information:

Rainbow Falls is accessed from a ½ mile boardwalk trail that winds through the forest to a viewing overlook for Rainbow Falls. The trail also connects to longer hike up the mountain on the Institute Creek Trail.
