Mountain Point

Over 150 species have been observed at this site.

Mountain Point is located approximately 3 miles south of Saxman on the South Tongass Highway. There is a rock breakwater at this location that is a good spot for birdwatching year round with large flocks of migrants passing, particularly during the spring migration. Over 150 species have been observed at this site including: Marbled Murrelet, Harlequin Duck, Surf Scoter, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Common Murre, Pelagic and Double-crested Cormorant, Pacific Loon and many other species including passerines in the surrounding forest vegetation.

Located approximately 8 miles south of Ketchikan Ferry Terminal on the South Tongass Highway.
