Southeast Alaska Birding Trail Wrangell

Mount Dewey Trail

Easily accessed by foot from downtown Wrangell.

This boardwalk trail winds up through forest habitat on the large hill behind town, leading to views overlooking the town and ocean. Watch for: Swainson's Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Varied Thrush, Bald Eagle, Steller's Jay, American Robin, Northern Flicker, and a variety of species of sparrows and other forest passerines.

Directions:

Trailhead parking area is located at the west end of 3rd street, but is very limited. It is also easily accessed by foot from downtown Wrangell.

Trail Information:

The boardwalk trail is a one quarter mile one-way to a viewing platform leading to views overlooking the town and ocean.
