To reach the estuary at the mouth of Bartlett River, follow the Bartlett River Trail through the forest and along the lagoon and river to the mouth of the river and the estuary. This location is a spring and fall concentration area for migrating shorebirds and waterbirds, as well as a great spot during the summer to find a wide diversity of bird species. Pay attention to the tides when exploring this area for safety and also to improve your bird viewing, as the rising tide will often push the waterbirds and shorebirds closer to the shore for better viewing.

Directions:

From the Glacier Bay Lodge, hike up the road a half mile to the trailhead for the Bartlett River Trail and then follow the trail for 2 miles to the end of the trail at the mouth of the Bartlett River.
