Bartlett Cove
The jumping-off spot for Bartlett Cove is the Glacier Bay National Park Visitor Center. Start at the visitor center to learn about Glacier Bay, and how best to access and explore this area. Options include daily guided boat tours, daily or overnight kayak rentals, guided or unguided kayak tours, and shoreline exploration on the Beach Trail and Tlingit Trail, including guided hikes. The Park Service also offers camping, lodging, and dining opportunities.
On the saltwater and adjacent shoreline it is common to see Harlequin Duck, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Horned Grebe, Red-necked Grebe, Black Oystercatcher, Common Murre, Pigeon Guillemot, Marbled Murrelet, Black-legged Kittiwake, and many other species. In the forests adjacent to Bartlet Cove you can find a variety of passerines including grouse, Dark-eyed Junco, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Three-toed Woodpecker, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, thrushes, wrens, and warblers.
Directions:
From downtown Gustavus, head west on Gustavus Road toward Shooting Star Lane (0.7 miles). Turn right onto Mountain View Road and drive 2.8 miles to Park Road. Drive 4.4 miles and follow the signs to the visitor center.
