Chilkat River Valley
The Chilkat River Valley or Valley of Eagles is a scenic river valley that runs for over 50 miles from high in the mountains of British Columbia in Canada to Chilkat Inlet near Haines Alaska and surrounds the Chilkat Indian Village of Klukwan. During your visit to Klukwan, you can learn about this community's culture and the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve at the Jilkaat Kwaan Cultural Heritage and Bald Eagle Preserve Visitor Center.
Directions:
From Haines, you can follow the Haines Highway North for 27 miles along the Chilkat River Valley starting at the Chilkat Inlet. At Mile 27, Mosquito Lake Road can be followed to continue exploring the Chilkat River Valley towards its upper reaches.
