Shoemaker Park
Shoemaker Park is located off the Zimovia Highway near Shoemaker Bay, a few miles south of Wrangell and adjacent to Zimovia Straight and the confluence of Institute Creek. There is an adjacent harbor, campground, picnic area, and trailhead. The park provides good beach and tidal flats access. Watch for Surf Scoter, Surfbird, Black Turnstone a diversity of waterfowl species, and shorebirds during migration including Western, Least, and Rock Sandpiper.
Directions:
From Wrangell head approximately 4.5 miles south on the Zimovia Highway to the Shoemaker Park parking area.
Trail Information:
US Forest Service Rainbow Falls Trail is located near this site but is not used to access the site.
