Rainbow Falls
Rainbow Falls is a steep hike that is accessed from a 0.6-mile-long boardwalk trail that winds through the hemlock-spruce forest to a viewing overlook at the falls. The Institute Creek Trail continues up the mountain to access alpine areas and joins the North Wrangell Trail. The Forest Service maintains three shelters along the trail route for campers and emergency shelter needs. Near the falls watch for American Dipper, Rufous Hummingbird, and Pacific Wren.
Directions:
From Wrangell head approximately 4.5 miles south on the Zimovia Highway to the Rainbow Falls trailhead and parking area.
Trail Information:
Rainbow Falls is accessed from a ½ mile boardwalk trail that winds through the forest to a viewing overlook for Rainbow Falls. The trail also connects to longer hike up the mountain on the Institute Creek Trail.
