The Cannon Beach Bridge crossing over Tawah Creek is a designated Forest Service Nature Watch site. From the bridge, one can view Tawah Creek and its associated wetlands and open meadows. Waterfowl such as Mallard, Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Greater White-fronted Goose, and Trumpeter Swan are often observed here in the spring and fall. Greater Yellowlegs, Belted Kingfisher, and Bald Eagle are common from spring through fall. Watch for the occasional Northern Goshawk, Great Blue Heron, or Northern Harrier. Birders can also consider bringing a canoe or kayak to explore Tawah Creek by boat.

The adjacent tall shrub, open meadows, and conifer forest add a variety of species to the area, such as Golden-crowned Kinglet, Varied Thrush, and several species of warblers and sparrows. In the fall, scan the nearby meadows for moose and bears.

Directions:

To access the site, drive 2.6 miles on Airport Road to Cannon Beach Road, turn right, and drive 2.1 miles to Cannon Beach Bridge, which crosses over Tawah Creek. Park in the small pullout area located on the left, immediately before the bridge. Interpretive sign panels are located at this site.
