Join Alaska Wilderness League, Southeast Alaska Conservation Council, and Audubon Alaska for a book launch presentation. We will chat with John Schoen, author of a new book that follows his personal experiences over decades of studying brown bears, deer, mountain goats, and their relationships to the old-growth forests while advocating for the conservation of Alaska’s Tongass National Forest.

John grew up in Washington’s San Juan Islands with the beach for his front yard and the forest his backyard playground. He moved to Alaska in 1976 and had an incredibly fulfilling career working for Alaska’s wildlife and wild places. As a long-time wildlife scientist engaged in Tongass conservation, John will captivate you with his passion. His images, stories, and data will inspire you to help protect this remarkable place—one unlike anywhere else on earth.
