Refuge Cove State Recreation Site
Refuge Cove State Recreation Site is a 13 acre park with ½ mile of public beach access. The adjacent Tongass Narrows are a good place to look for waterfowl, seabirds and other water birds. There is often a flock of Western Grebes (75-200 birds) in Tongass Narrows that's visible between October and April.
Directions:
From Ketchikan ferry terminal, head north on the North Tongass Hwy approximately 6 miles. Turn left onto Sunset Dr. at milepost 8.7 off of N. Tongass Hwy.
